FREE rod licence as Take A Friend Fishing returns

THE Angling Trust has confirmed that Take a Friend Fishing is back for 2020… and you can take advantage over the days ahead.

Take A Friend Fishing is back after a break and you can get involved.

There’s a free rod licence offer with the campaign which runs from July 4 to July 19 inclusive in England and Wales.

The Angling Trust, Angling Trades Association and Environment Agency  teamed up to give all anglers the perfect opportunity to introduce someone they know to fishing this month.

Rod licence holding anglers will be able to register for a free one-day Environment Agency fishing licence worth £6 to take someone they know out fishing.

To take advantage of this free rod licence offer, all that licence holding anglers need to do is to visit

When on that TAFF website, the licence holder provides some simple contact details including their fishing licence number and the date of the fishing trip.

This will notify their friend who, after checking their details are correct, will be able to go fishing with the fishing licence holder, on the selected day using their own free one-day fishing licence.

Angling has enjoyed a genuine revival in recent weeks since Covid-19 lockdown measures were eased, and time by the water was allowed by day and night.

Many day ticket, club and syndicate venues have put in place special measures since reopening, to enhance safety and control numbers.

The Angling Trust has general guidelines including these for individual freshwater anglers…
